NASABA and SAALT Send Letter to DHS Inquiring into Status of TVU Students

February 26, 2011

As you know, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement closed a northern California university called Tri-Valley University on January 19, 2011. The Department of Homeland Security accuses TVU’s administration of running a sham school for the purposes of evading US immigration laws.

The school had nearly 1,500 students, nearly all of which were from India. NASABA and its members have been active in counseling former students of TVU and recently held a workshop to help them understand their rights. Together with South Asian Americans Leading Together (“SAALT”), NASABA has also sent a letter to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano and others seeking additional information and clarification about the status of these students. A copy of this letter is below.
