SABA-DC Profiles the Grameen Foundation

July 16, 2010

In a recent newsletter (pdf link) spotlighting microfinance, the South Asian Bar Association of DC focuses on the Grameen Foundation, a U.S.-based, global NGO that seeks to export the Grameen Bank model around the world.  Grameen Bank, of course, is the microfinance company founded by Bangladeshi-American Nobel Peace Prize winner Professor Muhammad Yunus. The SABA-DC article explains how attorneys can help with Grameen’s mission to provide financial services to the poorest people on earth so that they can rise out of desperate poverty.

Christine Roberts, a Staff Attorney to the Grameen Foundation, writes about the legal department’s responsibilities and the value they add to the Foundation’s work. Ms. Roberts also invites deferred law firm associates and other attorneys interested in working with Grameen Foundation on a pro bono basis to help this great cause.
